General Overview

The front-wheel-drive Eclipse Spyder is available in the base GS Sport and the sportier GT trim levels. A 162-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission powers the GS Sport. However, a four-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift control is an available option. The GT features a more powerful 265 hp 3.8-liter V6 engine, along with a standard five-speed automatic transmission.
Both GS Sport and GT trim levels can run on regular fuel, but to bring out optimum performance capabilities Mitsubishi recommends premium for the GT trim level. When sporting the automatic transmission, the base GS averages 19mpg in the city and 27mpg on the highway, while the GT manages 16mpg in the city and 24mpg on the highway.

Both models also have a 19-second drop top with a hard Tonneau cover.
